Saggy Skin & Wrinkles
As we age, our skin loses its elasticity, moisture, and firmness. The once youthful glow and bounce of our skin are replaced with wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging. While aging is a natural process, it doesn't mean we have to accept these changes as they are. With the help of modern non-invasive treatments, you can choose to age gracefully and regain your confidence.

Here's a closer look at how the aging process impacts the skin, and how we can help to address these changes.

The epidermis layer is the outermost layer of the skin and serves as a protective barrier against environmental factors such as UV radiation and pollution. As we age, the epidermis layer can become thinner and less able to hold moisture, leading to dryness and fine lines. Additionally, the turnover of skin cells in the epidermis layer slows down, leading to a buildup of dead skin cells and a dull, rough texture.

The dermis layer is located beneath the epidermis layer and is responsible for providing support and structure to the skin. It contains collagen and elastin fibers, which give the skin its strength and elasticity. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin fibers decreases, leading to a loss of firmness and elasticity in the skin. This can result in wrinkles, sagging skin, and a loss of volume in the face.

The fat layer, also known as the subcutaneous tissue, is located beneath the epidermis layer and is responsible for providing insulation, cushioning, and energy storage for the body. In terms of aging, the fat layer can begin to thin and lose elasticity, leading to a loss of volume in the face and a more aged appearance.

The SMAS (Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System) layer is a fibrous layer of tissue that connects the facial muscles to the skin. As we age, the SMAS layer can lose its elasticity and firmness, leading to noticeable changes in facial appearance. This can result in an inability to retain a firm shape, sagging skin, and a loss of definition in the face.

The muscle layer is the layer of tissue that contains the facial muscles, which allow us to make facial expressions and movements. These muscles are attached to the bone and to the skin, and they work in conjunction with the overlying skin to create facial expressions. As we age, the muscles in our face can weaken, leading to a loss of tone and sagging in certain areas.

Do you know that if your face has a round shape, the signs of aging, such as sagging, may be more noticeable compared to a square-shaped face? This could be attributed to the position of cheeks, but rest assured, we have unique treatments to address these concerns.

How long will it take to see results?
Each treatment follows a slightly different timeline for results. Non-surgical treatments with medical devices rely on the body’s natural production of collagen to create metabolic changes within the skin, which will promote skin tightening and lifting. Depending on your body’s natural response, this timeframe will vary from person to person. You may notice immediate results after the first session. Within 2-3 months after multiple sessions, more superior results can be seen. Your skin may continue to improve for up to 6 months. You may see immediate improvement with our minimally invasive treatments (e.g., Skinboosters or fillers). Filler placements are used to redefine your facial contours and tighten your face with accurate and precise placement of the injection.
Which areas of the body can I treat with non-invasive treatments?
Various technologies have been approved by the medical community for the treatment of different areas of the face and body. Ultherapy can be used to lift skin on the face, neck, and chest. Potenza RF Microneedling/Cynosure Elite IQ/Picosure can be used on the same areas, and they can also be used elsewhere on the body. Talk to us about your treatment goals to explore which options are best for you.
How many treatments will be necessary?
The answer depends on your skin laxity (looseness). If you have only a little sagging, one treatment should be adequate. If you have moderate sagging, more treatments may be useful to achieve ideal results. We will have a discussion with you on the estimated number of treatments that are appropriate, and you can revisit the potential for additional sessions once your results take hold.
